RESOLUTION NO. 20-052
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT
AMENDMENT WITH THE JEFFERSON COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FOR
VISITOR CENTER OPERATIONS AND MARKETING SERVICES
WHEREAS, the City and the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce signed an
agreement for visitor center operations and marketing services on February 7, 2020, to be paid
from the City of Port Townsend lodging tax; and
WHEREAS, the agreement called for payments by the City of Port Townsend in the
amount of$303,000; and
WHEREAS, since signing the agreement, the COVID-19 pandemic as significantly
affected the City's lodging tax, tourism operations, and operations of the Visitors Information
Center; and
WHEREAS, the City and the Chamber of Commerce have renegotiated the agreement due
to the frustration of purpose;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend, Washington, the City Manager is authorized execute an amendment to the visitor center
operations and marketing agreement with the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce reducing
the total payment for 2020 to $192,208 and modifying the scope of work.
ADOPTED by the City Council of Port Townsend, Washington, at a regular meeting
thereof, held this 5th day of October 2020.
