RESOLUTION NO. 20-043
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ALL
AGREEMENTS AND DOCUMENTS NECESSARY TO EXPEND THE CARES ACT
FUNDS FOR THE LISTED PROJECTS
WHEREAS, as part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act, the State
of Washington received stimulus funding from the United States government; and,
WHEREAS, the State of Washington allocated $300 million of the stimulus funding to
cities and counties ineligible to receive funding directly from the federal government; and,
WHEREAS, the State of Washington allocated $288,300 to the City of Port Townsend;
and,
WHEREAS, the City may use the funds for eligible expenses incurred between March 1,
and October 31, 2020;
WHEREAS, the City Council considered the potential uses for the funds at a workshop on
June 1, 2020;
WHEREAS, in Resolution 20-035 the City Council adopted guiding principles for
determining how to spend the CARES Act Coronavirus relief funds;
WHEREAS, the listed projects are consistent with those guiding principles;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend, Washington, the City Manager is authorized execute any needed agreements or
documents to expend CARES Act funds on the following:
1. Unemployment insurance costs resulting from COVID-19
2. City Hall front desk and security modifications
3. Reassigning City staff and temporary public safety staff
4. Shortening furloughs for some City staff
5. Computer equipment purchases for telework
6. Added public sanitary facilities

meeting thereof, held this 10th day of August 2020.
