HomeMy WebLinkAbout020520 Final PTAC Minutes Minutes of the Port Townsend Arts Commission Meeting of February 5, 2019 LOCATION: City Hall Conference Room 3 MEMBERS PRESENT: Nhatt Nichols (Chair), Maryann Tapiro, Shelly Leavens, & Becky Busi MEMBERS EXCUSED: Kris Morris, Dan Groussman, Stan Rubin (Vice Chair), STAFF PRESENT: Executive Assistant Kelly Graves Topic Motions/Recommendation/Action Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 3:05 p.m. Approval of Agenda The agenda was approved with 2 changes, added one funding application, and a fee waiver request. Approval of Minutes for January 2020 Minutes were approved with correction 4-0 unanimously. Public Comment No Public Comment Funding Application: Port Townsend Ballet Jennifer Hardesty presented to the Commission for a spring performance where dancers will perform on stage. Funding will help to pay for the Centrum lighting and sound. The Commission approved 4-0 unanimously to fund $1000. Funding Application: Gwen Franz Gwen Franz presented to the Commission for an all-day workshop for musicians and a pay what you wish evening concert with Eugene Friesen. Funding will help with concert costs and advertising. The Commission approved 4-0 unanimously to fund $975. Funding Application: Jefferson County Farmers Market: Amanda Milholland presented to the Commission for Music at the PT Farmers Market. Every Saturday April – October. The Farmers Market is free and open to the public. Funding will help pay a small stipend to the musicians to help bring high quality music to the farmers market. The Commission approved 3-1 to fund $2000. Funding Application: PT Summer Band Steve Reed presented to the Commission for 7 free concerts that are open to the public. Funding will help with posters, brochures and outreach to the community. The Commission approved 4-0 unanimously to fund $500. Topic Motions/Recommendation/Action Funding Application: Songwriting works Judith-Kate Friedman presented to the Commission musical performances and a public tribute/celebration of life for Daniel Deardorff. Funding will help with an ADA portable restroom, insurance, publicity, sound tech, projector screen and transportation for one performer. The Commission approved 4-0 unanimously to fund $500. Chairs Update: We will start setting the agenda at the end of each meeting. There is an agenda form we can review each meeting for the year. Council has tasked the Arts Commission with an Annual review and update of their Public Art plan, and to determine how the Public Art Plan integrates with other City plans. Budget Update Arts Commission budget after today’s approved grant funding requests is $14,605 Outreach Committee Chair Ms. Nichols decided to dissolve the Outreach committee, all outreach items will be discussed during regular Arts Commission Meetings. Public Arts Committee There is another Housing meeting coming up where they will be discussing public art. Playfest Fee Waiver Key City Public Theatre submitted a fee waiver request for the Playfest event. The waiver was denied unanimously 4-0 Next Meeting: March 4, 2020, 3:00 p.m. Adjourn: The meeting was adjourned at 4:45 p.m.
