RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT
TOWNSEND APPROVING A SHORELINE SUBSTANTIAL
DEVELOPMENT & CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT
APPLICATION LUP 00-030
The City Council of the City of Port Townsend, Washington resolves as follows:
WHEREAS, the applicants, Mardee Stadshaug & Jim Prince, have petitioned the
City for a Shoreline Substantial Development & Conditional Use Permit in
accordance with the 1989 Port Townsend Shoreline Master Program to allow
construction of a private staircase to the beach abutting their home; and
WHEREAS, the application was originally submitted on or about June 8, 2000 by
the above parties and said application is vested under the current rules then in
effect; and
WHEREAS, review of the project under the State Environmental Policy Act
(SEPA) was completed and resulted in a Mitigated Determination of Non-
Significance (MDNS) being issued on August 16, 2000; and
WHEREAS, the proposed Shoreline Substantial Development & Conditional Use
Permit was duly noticed pursuant to Chapter 20.01 of the Port Townsend
Municipal Code; and
WHEREAS, the Port Townsend Planning Commission conducted an open record
public hearing for the purpose of taking testimony, hearing evidence, considering
the facts germane to the proposal, and evaluating the proposal for consistency with
adopted plans and regulations; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has held a closed record public hearing for the
purpose of considering the Planning Commission's recommendation and evidence
in the record including any written comments and/or public testimony received,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the City Council hereby accepts and
adopts the findings of fact, conclusions and project conditions as recomniended by
the Planning Commission dated September 14, 2000. Pursuant to the requirements
of the Shoreline Management Act, this decision shall be forwarded to the
Washington State Department of Ecology for final approval.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend and signed by the
