RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT
TOWNSEND APPROVING A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT,
APPLICATION LUP 00-055 .
The City Council of the City of Port Townsend, Washington resolves as follows:
WHEREAS, the Washington State Parks & Recreation Commission has petitioned
the City for Conditional Use Permit approval to allow construction of a 18,106
square foot, 600 person capacity, dining hall/multipurpose facility at Fort Worden
State Park and Conference Center. The new facility would replace the existing
9,500 square foot dining hall currently located at Fort Worden; and
WHEREAS, the application was originally submitted on or about August 18, 2000
by the Washington State Parks & Recreation Commission and the application is
vested under the current rules then in effect; and
WHEREAS, the Building and Community Development (BCD) Director issued
a State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) Mitigated Determination of Non-
Significance (MDNS) on October 25, 2000; and
WHEREAS, the proposed Conditional Use Permit was duly noticed pursuant to
Chapter 20.01 of the Port Townsend Municipal Code; and
WHEREAS, the Port Townsend Planning Commission conducted a open record
public hearing on November 30, 2000 for the purpose of taking testimony, hearing
evidence, considering the facts germane to the proposal and evaluating the proposal
for consistency with adopted plans and regulations; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission recommended approval of the Conditional
Use Permit, subject to a number of conditions; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has held a closed record public hearing for the
purpose of considering the Planning Commission's recommendation and evidence
in the record including any written comments and/or public testimony received,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the City Council hereby accepts and
adopts the findings of fact, conclusions and project conditions as recommended by
the Planning Commission dated November 30, 2000.
