MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL WORKSHOP MEETING OF DECEMBER 9, 2019
CALL TO ORDER
The Port Townsend City Council met in workshop session on the 9th day of
December 2019 in the Council Chambers at 540 Water Street. Mayor Deborah
Stinson called the meeting to order at 6:32 p.m.
ROLL CALL
Councilmembers present at roll call were Pamela Adams, David Faber, Robert Gray,
Amy Howard, Michelle Sandoval, Ariel Speser, and Deborah Stinson.
Staff members present were City Manager John Mauro, Parks, Recreation and
Community Services Director Alex Wisniewski, and Deputy City Clerk Haylie Clement.
DISCUSSION ITEMS
Presentation on Public Art Plan
City Manager John Mauro introduced Kris Morris from the Arts Commission. Kris
Morris provided background information on how the Public Art Plan was developed
and the intent behind it. It was noted that all public property was reviewed as
opposed to only reviewing property owned by the City. Site assessment criteria was
discussed along with the reasoning for sites being listed as not recommended for
public art. It was explained that the Plan is not exhaustive and is intended to be
amended in the future.
Council discussed the public process portion of developing the Plan and thanked
the Arts Commission for their work and time spend on reviewing and documenting
each site.
Parks, Recreation and Open Space Plan Update
Parks, Recreation and Community Services Director Alex Wisniewski provided an
update on the Parks, Recreation and Open Space Plan which covered the current
timeline for completing the Plan, background information on the Plan, and results of
the outreach and survey responses.
Council commented on the specifics of the survey results, areas of funding and long
term versus short term visions.
Mayor Stinson thanked Alex Wisnewski for his five years of service with the City
and presented a service award and pin.
