Topic Motions/Recommendation/Action
Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 3:05 p.m.
Approval of Agenda The agenda was approved.
Approval of Minutes for December 2020 Minutes were approved with correction of month 5-0 unanimously.
Public Comment No Public Comment
Budget Update Arts Commission budget for 2020 is $24,600. There is
$19,800 left after the December Meeting.
Chairs Update:
No update from the Chair
Elections: Nhatt Nichols was appointed as Chair of the Commission.
Stan Rubin was appointed as Vice Chair of the Commission. Shelly was appointed as Treasurer of the Commission.
Funding Application: Many Moons Productions
Phina Pipia presented to the Commission about a new solo show with multi instrumentals and a dancer. This would be a weekend of shows free to youth and one show being pay what you wish (donation) and one show will have tickets. There is also a workshop for young artists to
help combine media and tools to creative original work.
The Commission approved 5-0 unanimously to fund $1000.
Funding Application: Port Townsend Ballet
Jennifer Hardesty withdrew her application and will submit
a new one for the February meeting.
Topic Motions/Recommendation/Action
Funding Application: Mandala
Marc Weinblatt presented to the Commission about
“Mending of the hearts of America”. This is a performance that includes interaction with the audience about tackling social justice issues. Funding would help with rental costs, photo copying and props. All performances are free or pay
what you wish. 5 total performances This includes 2
workshops.
The Commission approved 5-0 unanimously to fund $1220.
2020 Workplan
This will be discussed at a future meeting
Outreach Committee Report
The Commission did appointments for the Committee. This Committee will work on scheduling their next meeting in January.
Becky Busi was appointed as Chair of the Outreach Committee
Nhatt Nichols, Shelly Leavens, and Stan Rubin were appointed as members.
Public Arts Committee The Public Art Plan was presented to City Council at a December Council Meeting. It will be brought back to City Council in January or February for adoption.
MaryAnn Tapiro reported out on the Olycap Public Art project, there is possibility of Public Art in a public space close to this new development/project.
The Commission decided to wait on appointing the Chair and members as a few members of this Committee were absent.
