Dear Mr. Maxwell and Ms. Harper:
Stratum Group previously completed a geologic hazard assessment for two proposed electric
utility vaults as part of the Jefferson Street - Taylor to Washington Street Transportation
Investment Board (TIB) project. It is our understanding that the proposed locations for the vaults
have changed. The new location for both of the vaults is within the Adams Street right-of-way
near the base of a gentle cut slope below the Adams Street trail that links Jefferson Street to
Washington Street. This area was included as part of our previous geologic hazard assessment
(Stratum Group 4.11.18).

Addendum to Geologic Hazard Assessment
We visited the new vault location on April 4, 2019 with Public Works staff and determined that
it is not located within a geologically hazardous area. As described in our previous report
(Stratum Group 4.11.18), the gentle slopes below the Adams Street trail do not meet the criteria
for a geologic hazard area per PTMC 19.05 and are not at risk of landslides or erosion.
Furthermore, the proposed electric utility vaults will not increase the risk of landslides or erosion
on or off the site as long as the recommendations of our previous report (Stratum Group 4.11.18)
are followed.
Several portions of the slope below Jefferson Street do meet the criteria for geologically
hazardous areas per PTMC 19.05.100B5 but they are located over 50 feet from the new proposed
vault location. The slopes below Jefferson Street are characterized in detail in our previous report
(Stratum Group 4.11.18) and are not at risk of landslides or erosion.
