RESOLUTION NO. 19-077
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON, ACCEPTING THE DONATION FROM THE ESTATE OF KAREN
RACHEL MCKEE IN THE AMOUNT OF $409000 FOR THE PORT TOWNSEND
LIBRARY FUND AND $3,560 FOR THE PORT TOWNSEND LIBRARY COLLECTION
AND AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A
DONATION AGREEMENT
WHEREAS, the Port Townsend Municipal Code 3.42.050 requires the City Council
approve any donations to the City in excess of$5,000;
WHEREAS, Karen Rachel McKee lived and worked in Port Townsend from 1990 until
her death in 2017;
WHEREAS, Karen Rachel McKee was a local artist, gardener, and pioneering woman
glassblower in Port Townsend, who supported the Port Townsend Library, and the executor of
her estate wished to honor her with a donation to the Port Townsend Library;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend:
The City gratefully accepts the donation from the Estate of Karen Rachel McKee in the
amount of$40,000 for the library fund for purposes as determined by the Library Director
and $3,560 to enhance the Port Townsend Library collection and authorizes and directs
the City Manager to execute a donation agreement for the funds.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting
thereof, held this 16th day of September 2019.
