RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT
TOWNSEND APPOINTING AN AGENT TO RECEIVE CLAIMS
AGAINST THE CITY UNDER CHAPTER 4.96 RCW
The City Council of the City of Port Townsend, Washington resolves as
follows:
WHEREAS, Chapter 4.96 RCW requi, res that all claims for tortious conduct
against a local governmental entity must be filed with the governmental entity before a
civil suit may be filed; and
WHEREAS, Chapter 4.96 RCW further requires that the City appoint an agent
to receive any claim for damages against the City; and
WHEREAS, the identify of the agent and address during normal business hours
of the City are public records and shall be recorded with the Jefferson County auditor;
and
WHEREAS, all claims for damages shall be presented to the agent within the
applicable period of limitations within which an action must be commenced,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the City Council for the City of
Port Townsend appoints the City Manager, or the Manager's designated agent
(designation to be in writing), as the City's agent to receive any claim for damages
against the City under Chapter 4.96 RCW. The agent(s) may be reached during the
normal business hours of the City at Office of City Manager, 181 Quincy Street, Suite
201; telephone (360) 379-5047, Facsimile (360) 385-4290, or such other address as the
agent(s) office may be located.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend and signed by the
Mayor on this fourth day of September, 2001.
