RESOLUTION NO. 19-052
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY COUNCIL FINANCE
AND BUDGET COMMITTEE TO RECOMMEND TERMS FOR NEGOTIATING A
NEW COLLABORATION AGREEMENT FOR MOUNTAIN VIEW COMMONS
WHEREAS, in 2017, the City of Port Townsend, Jefferson County, Jefferson County
Hospital District No. 2, Port Townsend School District No. 50, and the Olympic Peninsula
YMCA agreed to work collaboratively towards a combined YMCA/Community Recovery Center
at Mountain View Commons that would include a full-service YMCA facility; and
WHEREAS, the parties suspended the project allowing the YMCA to match the scope
and scale of the project with the community's ability to support and maintain a full-service
facility; and
WHEREAS, the 2017 agreement expired in December 2018.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend:
City Council Finance and Budget Committee is directed to consult with the City Manager
on terms acceptable to the City and recommend terms for negotiating a new collaboration
agreement for Mountain View Commons with interested parties to study the feasibility of
a full-service recreation facility in eastern Jefferson County.
Any recommended agreement will require full City Council acceptance prior to
execution.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a special business
meeting thereof, held this 17th day of June 2019.
