RESOLUTION NO. 19-024
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN
AGREEMENT FOR SERVICES WITH THE PORT TOWNSEND MAIN STREET
PROGRAM
WHEREAS, by Resolution 18-056, City Council authorized the City Manager to execute
an agreement for community beautification, economic development, and maintenance services
with the Port Townsend Main Street Program in an amount not to exceed $88,039.21; and,
WHEREAS, RCW 82.73 creates a tax incentive program for taxpayers to make
contributions to main street organizations for the purposes of supporting downtown
revitalization, and the City of Port Townsend is a qualified taxpayer; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend made two applications for 2019 tax credits, one
for a contribution of$88,039.21 and one for a contribution of$6,970.59; and,
WHEREAS, staff has received confirmation from the Washington State Department of
Revenue that the second tax credit request has been approved;
WHEREAS, by Resolution 19-023, City Council authorized the City Manager to execute
an agreement with the Port Townsend Main Street Program in an amount not to exceed
$95,009.80 for 2019; and
WHEREAS, the correct amount for the services that Port Townsend Main Street
Program will provide is $100,000.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend as follows:
Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to execute an agreement for
community beautification, economic development, and maintenance services with the
Port Townsend Main Street Program in an amount not to exceed $100,000.
Sectional 2. The City Manager is authorized to take all administrative actions
consistent with the intent of this Resolution.
