A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON APPROVING THE DESIGN OF THE "SIMS WAY WALKWAY,
HAINES STREET PARK AND RIDE TO WATER STREET PROJECT" AND
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO MOVE FORWARD WITH BIDDING,
AWARD AND CONSTRUCTION OF THE PROJECT WITHIN THE AVAILABLE
FUNDING AND APPROVED BUDGET FOR THE PROJECT. THIS INCLUDES ALL
NECESSARY AND PROPER STEPS TO AWARD AND CARRY OUT CONTRACTS,
INCLUDING APPROVING APPROPRIATE CHANGE ORDERS AND CONTRACT
AMENDMENTS.
WHEREAS, the Sims Way Walkway from Haines Street Park and Ride to Water Street
Project has been identified through the adopted 6-Year Transportation Improvement Program
(TIP) as a priority project; and
WHEREAS, the project was designated as a priority project for pedestrian improvements
by the adopted City of Port Townsend Non-Motorized Transportation Plan linking the park and
ride and downtown commercial area with other businesses and services along the route; and
and
WHEREAS, the City has received grant funding though the Federal TEA-21 program;
WHEREAS, this project is included in the 2002 budget; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council to move forward with this project to
construction in the most expedient manner,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend that the City Manager is authorized to proceed with bidding, award and construction
of the project, including the signing of the necessary contracts to complete the project, all within
the approved budgets and financing plan for the project.
