HomeMy WebLinkAbout112718 Minutes PARKS, RECREATION & TREE ADVISORY BOARD MEETING MINUTES Date: November 27, 2018 Time: 4:30 p.m. Location: City Hall First Floor Conference Room Members Present: Debbie Jahnke, Roarke Jennings (Chair), Daniel Greholver, Brenda McMillan, Ed Robeau, Jim Todd Members Absent: Paul Schutt Staff Present: Parks, Recreation and Community Services Director Alex Wisniewski; Deputy City Clerk Haylie Clement Topic Motions/Recommendation/Action Approval of Agenda The agenda was accepted without change Approval of Minutes The Minutes of October 23, 2018 were unanimously approved. Public Comment There was none. Tree Line USA - Draft letter to PUD: Debbie Jahnke presented a draft letter for the Board to review and finalize at the January meeting. Landmark Tree Nomination - Draft nomination form: Debbie Jahnke presented a draft nomination form. The form included language pulled from the Tree Conservation Code. There was unanimous approval to forward the draft form to staff for use in accepting nomination requests. Workplan - Park Use Data Discussion: The Board discussed park use data and the different type of data that could be collected. It was stated that the data should have a specific purpose and that the data will be beneficial when updating the Parks Plan. The group reviewed result from a previous mail survey which is currently listed in the Parks Plan. The Board agreed to continue the discussion at the next meeting. Recreation and Maintenance Update: The Director’s update was presented. The group discussed pool attendance, swim lessons and an article in the PT Leader featuring the REDfins. 2019 Budget: Alex Wisniewski reported on the Parks operating budget and 2019 budget requests. The Board reviewed and discussed changes from prior years. The budget request list included both pending requests and previously approved items. The group then reviewed the operating budget and 2019 budget request list for the pool. City Manager Recruiting Survey: The Board reviewed and provided answers to the City Manager Recruitment Survey. Board Comment: Daniel Greholver updated the Board on communications with the 1 Million Redwoods Project. There was agreement to review the email and continue the discussion at the next meeting. Public Comment: Robert Gray commented on Metropolitan Park Districts. Next Meeting: The next regular meeting will be on January 22, 2019. The meeting adjourned at 6:07 p.m.
