HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-008RESOLUTION NO. 03-008 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, WASHINGTON, SUPPORTING THE EFFORTS OF THE EAST JEFFERSON CHAPTER OF PUGET SOUND ANGLERS TO EXTEND THE CHINOOK SALMON SEASON AND PRESERVE THE BEACH FISHERY WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend recognizes the importance of family recreation for a healthy community; and WHEREAS, the City recognizes the importance of subsistence fishing to the quality of life to many of its citizens; and WHEREAS, the City recognizes the importance of the economic well being of the many businesses that derive benefit from sport fishing; and WHEREAS, the City recognizes the need to protect endangered species, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend, to support a proposal before the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife to extend the Chinook Salmon Season to all of April, close the boat fishery in July, but preserve the These proposals are assuming that no endangerment of these beach fishery in July in Area 9. salmon species will occur.
