A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON, TO AMEND THE 2009-2014 SIX-YEAR TRANSPORTATION
IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM (TIP) TO ADD ADDITIONAL FUNDING OF A
PROJECT AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT THE REVISED
TIP TO THE STATE
WHEREAS, the City Council approved the 2009-2014 Six Year Transportation
Improvement Plan with Resolution No. 08-023 in July 2008; and
WHEREAS, the City Council approved the Amended 2009-2014 Six Year
Transportation Improvement Plan with Resolution No. 09-009 on February 17, 2009 amending
the federal funding shown in the TIP for the Gateway Improvement Project from $359,000 to
$1,959,000(to list an additional $1.6M in federal funding from the American Recovery and
Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) funding source to the Gateway Improvement Project); and
WHEREAS, the City wishes the Washington State Department of Transportation to
obligate additional funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA)
which were allocated to the City for the Gateway Improvement Project; and
WHEREAS, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) mmues for
the project must be listed in the 2009-2014 Six Year Plan in order to be obligated by WSDOT for
funding; and
WHEREAS, City Council, by Resolution 09-023 on May 18, 2009, authorized
solicitation of bids for the Gateway Improvement Project; however, reserved approval of bid
award and a construction contract to further Council action after bids fixed the cost of the project
and Council could evaluate funding issues. This Resolution will assist in gaining additional
funding for the project and make bid approval and contract award more likely.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend as follows: The City Council authorizes the Mayor to sign this amendment resolution
approving the change to the Six-Year Transportation Improvement Program for 2009-2014 for
submission to the Washington State Department of Transportation, by amending the federal
funding shown in the TIP for the Gateway Improvement Project from $359,000to $1,959,000 (to
list an additional $1.6M in federal funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
of 2009 (ARRA) funding source to the Gateway Improvement Project).
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting
