RESOLUTION NO. 18-065
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON, SUPPORTING THE EXPANSION OF THE JEFFERSON TRANSIT
BOARD
WHEREAS, RCW 36.57A.055 requires that cities and counties participating in a public
transportation benefit area, such as Jefferson Transit, review the composition of the
transportation benefit area governing board every four years;
WHEREAS, 2018 marks end of the four-year term and so the City of Port Townsend and
Jefferson County have designated their representatives to the committee reviewing the Jefferson
Transit Board composition, and,
WHEREAS, Jefferson Transit users represent a wide cross section of the benefit area's
population and include Jefferson Health Care patients and the students of the local school
districts, and
WHEREAS, RCW 36.57A.050 allows for a board membership up to nine elected
officials appointed by the governing body of the City as well as the county legislative authority;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend as follows:
The City of Port Townsend supports the expansion of the Jefferson Transit governing
board to include elected representatives of other user groups such as school districts, hospital
districts, ports, public utility districts, fire districts, and other local elected bodies.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a special meeting
thereof, held this 10th day of December 2018.
