RESOLUTION NO. 18-053
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE CITY ATTORNEY TO EXECUTE A MOTION
FOR LEAVE TO FILE BRIEF OF AMICI CURIAE AND TO EXECUTE A BRIEF OF
AMICI CURIAE IN WASHINGTON STATE SUPREME COURT CASE NO. 95295-7
WHEREAS, the City of Seattle enacted an income tax on Seattle residents, and that
ordinance has been challenged and is currently under review by the Washington State Supreme Court;
and
WHEREAS, the Association of Washington Cities and the City of Olympia are
petitioning the Supreme Court for leave to file a brief of amici curiae in support of the City of
Seattle; and
WHEREAS, the issues of the case also affect the City of Port Townsend, including the
City's home rule authority;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend that the City Attorney is authorized to execute a Motion for Leave to File Brief of
Amici Curiae and to execute a Brief of Amici Curiae in Washington State Supreme Court case
number 95295-7, on behalf of the City of Port Townsend.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting
thereof, held this 15th day of October, 2018. �.
