A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON AUTHORIZING CITY MANAGER TO SIGN NECESSARY
AGREEMENTS WITH KITSAP FIRE DISTRICT 10 AND DAN SMITH
FOR INTERIM FIRE CHIEF SERVICES.
WHEREAS, Fire Chief Edwards has tendered his resignation effective March 31,
2004; and
WHEREAS, the City will be conducting a process for the appointment of a
replacement Chief, which process may take up to six (6) months; and
WHEREAS, the City needs services of a Fire Chief in the interim pending the
appointment of a new Chief; and
WHEREAS, The City Manager has negotiated an interim appointment of Dan
Smith, assistant chief of Kitsap Fire District No. 10 (Kingston),
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Port Townsend that the City Manager is authorized to execute necessary agreements with
Kitsap Fire District 10 and Dan Smith, to provide for Dan Smith's appointment as interim
fire chief of the City of Port Townsend, not to exceed six (6) months, pending the
appointment of a Fire Chief, consistent with budget limitations.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular
meeting thereof, held this seventeenth day of February, 2004.
