Ordinance 3204
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND RELATED TO
DESIGNATING DOROTHY LANE AS THE STREET NAME FOR THE ALLEY
WITHIN BLOCK 20, HASTING'S 3RD ADDITION.
WHEREAS, RCW 35A.11.020 grants the City the authority to regulate public ways;
and,
WHEREAS, the Plat of Hasting's 3`d Addition, dated June 8, 1888, dedicated an
unnamed a 20 -foot wide alley right-of-way within Block 20 lying on each side of developed
Holcomb and Gise Streets (Exhibit A); and,
WHEREAS, the area surrounding the Block 20 alley is residentially zoned and
developed; and,
WHEREAS, the Block 20 alley recently received Public Works permit approval for the
installation of City -standard vehicular and utility improvements to serve as the sole means of
vehicular ingress and egress to existing lots on each side of the alley; and,
WHEREAS, establishment of the Block 20 alley as the means of ingress and egress to
existing interior lots triggers a corresponding need to name the alley for residential addressing
purposes; and,
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Port Townsend do ordain as
follows;
Section 1 si !i n a name to the alley ri . ht-of-wa . The alley lying within Block 20
of Hasting's 3`d Addition from Holcomb Street to Gise Street, as shown on Exhibit A, is hereby
designated "Dorothy Lane."
Section 2. Severabi [ity. If any provision of this ordinance or its application to any person
or circumstance is held invalid, the remainder of the ordinance, or the application of the
provision to other persons or circumstances, is not affected.
Section 3. Publication. This Ordinance shall be published by an approved summary
consisting of the title.
Section 4. Effective Date. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force five days
after the date of its publication in the manner provided by law.

ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting
thereof, held this 4t" day of September, 2018.
