HomeMy WebLinkAbout060518 Minutes HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMITTEE SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES Date: Time:Location: June 5, 2018 3:00 pm City Hall, Third Floor Conference Room Members Present: Richard Berg, Craig Britton, Charles Paul (Chair), Don Schussler, George Randels Kathleen Croston arrived for last quarter of meeting Members Absent: Cate Comerford Staff Present: Planning Manager Judy Surber Topic Motions/Recommendation/Action Roll Call A quorum was present Approval of Minutes from May 22, 2018 Minutes of May 22, 2018 meeting approved (3-0-2) Approval of the Agenda June 5 agenda was approved unanimously (5-0-0) Correspondence/Attachments R. Berg referred to the article entitled “Rehabilitation Standards 101” in the Fall 2017 edition of Alliance Review. He noted it was an excellent summary of the Secretary of Interiors Guidelines and recommended all members have a copy. Members agreed it would be useful and requested three-hole punch copies for all. Appearance of Fairness R. Berg disclosed that he is working with the applicant’s representative, Adrianna Santiago, on an unrelated project. He does not feel it would compromise his ability to act objectively on this application but will recuse himself if there were any objections. There were no objections. Public Comment (items not on agenda) None, as no public were in attendance. HPC18-019, 1033 Lawrence Street- New mixed-media mural for Chester Applicant Adrianna Santiago shared historic photos and Square conceptual sketch. Staff noted local definition of artistic murals “consist of exclusively paint” but lack of local guidelines; and that the application refers to use of approved colors. Ms. Santiago noted they also intend to Topic Motions/Recommendation/Action use approved fonts. Commissioner Britton asked that the record reflect his concern that tenants be notified. HPC voted 5-0-1 (with Kathleen abstaining as she had just arrived) to approve the application as submitted with specific approval of mixed media). Adjourn: The meeting was adjourned at 3:45 p.m.6-0-0
