AN ORDINANCE appropriating the sum of $67,399 to the General Fund; $3,277
to the Firemen's Pension Fund; and making findings and declaring an emergency
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, UPON REVIEW OF
THE 2003 BUDGET, MAKES THE FOLLOWING FINDINGS:
Whereas, the Fire department incurred increased fire protection costs associated
with the Aldrich Grocery Store fire totaling $20,210 causing greater than
anticipated appropriations need; and
Whereas, the Police department incurred increased police protection and
investigation costs associated with the Aldrich Grocery Store fire totaling $12,514
causing greater than anticipated appropriations need; and
Whereas, the Building and Community Development department incurred
increased building inspection costs associated with the Aldrich Grocery Store fire
totaling $2,475 causing greater than anticipated appropriations need; and
Whereas, the Library department received Council approval to purchase new
shelving for the library totaling $12,000 causing greater than anticipated
appropriations need; and
Whereas, the Library department incurred increased costs for the search,
selection and transition for the new library director totaling $20,200 causing
greater than anticipated appropriations need; and
Whereas, the Firemen's Pension Fund experienced medical insurance increases
and statutory COLA adjustment totaling $3,277 causing greater than anticipated
appropriations need.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND IN REGULAR
SESSION ASSEMBLED DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The sum of SIXTY SEVEN THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED
NINETY NINE DOLLARS ($67,399) is hereby appropriated as a supplement to
the 2003 General Fund budget from unreserved fund balance.
Section 2. The sum of THREE THOUSAND TWO HUNDERD SEVENTY
SEVEN DOLLARS ($3,277) is hereby appropriated as a supplement to the 2003
Firemen's Pension Fund budget from unreserved fund balance.

Section 3. There is hereby found and declared to be an emergency requiring
the foregoing appropriations to the 2003 budget.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect upon its passage, approval, and
publication in the form and manner provided by law.
Adopted by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, at a
regular meeting thereof, held this fifteenth day of December 2003.
