AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND AMENDING
THE PORT TOWNSEND MUNICIPAL CODE BY REPEALING
CHAPTER 13.05 UTILITY RATES AND CHARGES, SECTION 13.05.030
MONTHLY WATER RATES, AND SECTION 13.05.040 MONTHLY
SEWER RATES, TO RESCIND THE 2004 DECREASE IN
WATER AND SEWER RATES
WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend provides water service to the residents
of Port Townsend and outside the City's municipal boundaries, and wastewater
(sewer), and Stormwater control services for City residents; and
WHEREAS, Ordinance 2719 passed December 6, 1999 approved an increase in
water rates in the years 2000 through 2003 and provided for a decrease of 2 % in water
rates in 2004; and
WHEREAS, the City is engaged in a rate study, and determines that the 2 %
decrease in rates set for 2004 should be deferred pending completion of the rate review
by the City Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Port Townsend ordains
as follows:
SECTION 1. Amendment. Chapter 13.05 Utility Rates and Charges,
Section 13.05.030 Monthly Water Rates, and 13.05.040 Monthly Sewer Rates, of
the Port Townsend Municipal Code is hereby amended as follows:
The -2 % rate index change for water and sewer rates provided in Ordinance 2719,
and codified at 13.05.030 Monthly Water Rates and 13.05.040 Monthly Sewer
Rates of the Port Townsend Municipal Code is hereby rescinded. Rates shall remain at
2003 rates.
SECTION 2. Severability. If any provision of this ordinance or its
application to any person or circumstance is held invalid, the remainder of the
ordinance, or the application of the provision to other persons or circumstances is not
affected.
This ordinance shall take effect and be in force five days after the date of its
publication in the manner provided by law.

Adopted by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, at a
regular meeting thereof, held this fifteenth day of December, 2003.
