HomeMy WebLinkAbout1752 Requiring Permits for ParadesORDINANCE NO. AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING A PERMIT FOR CONDUCTING PARADES, AND ESTABLISHING REQUIREMENTS THEREFOR. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, IN REGULAR SESSION ASSEMBLED, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. It shall be unlawful to conduct any parade or demonstration of any sort on any public right of way an the City except upon a permit for such parade or demonstration having been issued by the Chief of Police as hereinafter provided. Section 2. Upon written application, the Chief of Police shall examine into the nature of the parade or demonstration requested to be permitted, and, if he is sati§fied as to the merits of the application, shall issue a "parade permit" stating the time, date and route which will be permitted for the parade or demonst£ation. Each application for a parade permit shall state the date, time and route requested, and such permit application shall identify the person, persons or organization for which the permit is sought and who will be responsible for the conduct of such parade.. Section 3. No person shall participate in any manner in any para~ or demonstration unless he is participating by virtue of his entry therein by permission of the holder of a valid and subsisting parade permit. Section 4. As used in this ordinance the terms "parade" and .,demonstration" shall mean to be upon or to travel through the public right of way for the purpose of m~king a public display. Section 5. This ordinance shall take effect upon its passage, approval and publication in the form and manner required by law.
