HomeMy WebLinkAbout1777 Amending Ordinances 1078 and 1091 - Parking RequirementsORDINANCE NO. 1777 AN ORDINANCE amending Section 1 of Ordinance No. 1078 and Section 24 of Ordinance No. 1091 as amended by Ordinance No. 1490 of the City of Port Townsend. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, IN REGULAR SESSION ASSEMBLED, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Section 1 of Ordinance No. 1078, passed on May 25, 1937 and approved on May 26, 1937 and Section 24 of Ordinance No. 1091, passed on March 15, 1938, and approved on March 16, 1938 as amended by Ordinance No. 1490, are each hereby amended to provide as follows: "SECTION (1 or 24 as may be appropriate). On all streets of the City of Port Townsend no motor vehicle will be permitted to stand or park unless the same has been placed with the right hand wheels parallel with the curb and within 12 inches thereof, EXCEPTING that on that portion of Tyler Street between Washington Street and Front Street and that portion of Taylor Street between Water Street and Front Street, no vehicle will be permitted to stand or park unless the same has been placed with the lOngitudinal line of its chassis at an angle of 90° to the curb and with its front wheels within 6 inches of the curb; PROVIDED, HOWEVER that no standing or parking whatsoever of motor vehicles will be permitted upon the streets of said city within those certain zones which the Chief of Police or City Council have caused to be marked with the words "No Parking," whether by lettering upon the curb or on signs erected for the purpose, and FURTHER PROVIDED that parking only for ~ial purposes will be permitted upon streets or.portions of s~ets where the Chief of Police or City Council have caused to be placed signs reading "No Parking" except for purposes designated on said signs, as, for example and not in limitation, "No Parking-Ferry Traffic." SECTION 2. This Ordinance shall take effect upon its passage, approval and publication in the form and manner required by law.
