HomeMy WebLinkAbout102417 Minutes PARKS, RECREATION & TREE ADVISORY BOARD MEETING MINUTES Date: October 24, 2017 Time: 4:30 pm Location: City Hall First Floor Conference Room Members Present: Debbie Jahnke, Ed Robeau, Paul Schutt (Chair), Jim Todd, Jake Marley, Brenda McMillan Members Absent: Roarke Jennings Staff Present: Parks & Facilities Manager Alex Wisniewski, City Clerk Joanna Sanders Topic Motions/Recommendation/Action Approval of Minutes The Minutes of September 26, 2017 were unanimously approved with one typographical error fixed changing exiting to existing. Public Comment: Bob Gray spoke about maintenance of off leash area at Umatilla. Staff Report and Updates by Alex Wisniewski as follows: - Staffing Update – introduction of new Parks Lead, Bre Ganné. There was interest in the use of goats for invasive and non-native weed maintenance in parks. - Recreation and Maintenance Update. Reviewed Facility Rental/Special Event Lean process. - Trails – Loop Trail logo, trail classifications. Regarding sign design there was interest in adding distances, QR codes, basic rules for trail use by various user groups - Potential RCO grant submission Motion unanimously approved to recommend to the City Manager that Red Fins Swim Club Value Statement includes supporting water safety skills in our maritime community. Motion unanimously approved to recommend to Council giving Alex Wisniewski the resources needed to explore steps needed to apply for a WWRP grant in May 2018. Board Reports were as follows: - Arbor Day/UGN Day of Caring/UFRP Maintenance 22 October 2017. Paul Schutt recognized tree planting. - Stormwater Management Plan meeting. Debbie Jahnke encouraged PRTAB to attend and clerk to advertise a potential quorum - Tree City USA renewal application is in process by Debbie Jahnke. Public Comment: Bob Gray asked about motorized electric bikes being allowed on nonmotorized trails. Next Meeting: October 24, 2017 The meeting adjourned at 6:00 p.m.
