RESOLUTION NO. 18-012
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON, APPROVING THE 2018 WORK PLAN FOR THE PARKS,
RECREATION, AND TREE ADVISORY BOARD, AND DIRECTING THE BOARD TO
ASSIST STAFF AS REQUESTED TO IMPLEMENT THE WORK PLAN
WHEREAS, Resolution 09-029 Section 2 outlines the role of the Parks, Recreation and
Tree Advisory Board (the "Board"); and,
WHEREAS, at the March 12, 2018 Council workshop, Council and the Board discussed
proposed work plan items for 2018; and,
WHEREAS, City administration and staff have reviewed the proposed work plan items,
considering Council -adopted priorities as well as current and projected staff and financial
resources, and recommends that the proposed work plan be approved subject to available staff time
and other financial resources;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend, Washington, as follows:
Section 1. The City Council approves the Parks, Recreation, and Tree Advisory Board 2018
Work Plan as set forth at Exhibit A.
Section 2. Consistent with Resolution 09-029 Council directs that the Board work
collaboratively with City Administration and staff. The City Manager will consult with the
Chair of the Board to prioritize the order of the approved tasks. Staff shall be the lead on
each of the approved tasks and may request assistance from the Board as staff deems
appropriate. Staff will consult with the Chair of the Board regarding the timing of the
approved tasks for placement on the Board's agendas.
ADOPTED by the City Council of Port Townsend, Washington, at a regular meeting
thereof, held this 19th day of March, 2018.

EXHIBIT A
Parks, Recreation and Tree Advisory Board 2018 Work Plan
Pursue grant opportunities through the Washington State Recreation and Conservation
Office.
2. Develop educational messaging about City leash laws and City park locations where off -
leash activity is legal.
3. Develop signs for posting in City parks to communicate adopted park rules.
4. Propose park names for City parks which have not been officially named.
5. Explore and implement methods for collecting park and trail use data.
6. Produce and distribute a brochure identifying unique trees on public property within City
limits.
