RESOLUTION NO. 17-060
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN
AMENDMENT TO THE AGREEMENT WITH THE JEFFERSON COUNTY PUBLIC
HOSPITAL DISTRICT AND JEFFERSON COUNTY TO IMPLEMENT THE
COMMUNITY HEALTH IMPROVEMENT PLAN PARTNERSHIP
WHEREAS, Jefferson County, acting through its Board of Health ("County"), the
Jefferson County Hospital District No. 2 ("Hospital District") have entered into the Community
Health Improvement Plan partnership, an innovative collaboration devoted to identifying the
most pressing health priorities for Jefferson County and actions that will lead to improvements;
and,
WHEREAS, the partnership focuses on four Jefferson County health priorities, which
were identified through a rigorous community data assessment study and ranked at data
assessment meetings. The four health priorities that are focused on include immunizations;
access to care; access to mental health and substance abuse care; and healthy eating, active living
and chronic disease prevention; and,
WHEREAS, Council adopted Resolution 17-026 in May 2017, authorizing the City
Manager to enter into a contract with the County and the hospital for interim funding for
program staff through 2018; however, program staff was not hired until late this year.
WHEREAS, this is a critical issue for the City and extending the City's participation in
this interlocal will provide long-term benefits;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend as follows:
Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to negotiate and execute an amendment to the
contract extending the term through June 30, 2019.
Section 2. The contract amount shall not exceed $30,625 for 2018, and $13,125 for 2019,
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting
thereof, held this 4th day of December, 2017.
