AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 6 OF ORDINANCE
NO. 1692, AS AMENDED
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, IN REGULAR SESSION ASSEMBLED,
DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 6 of Ordinance No. 1692, as amended by Section i of
Ordinance No. 1729, is here and hereby amended to read as follows~
"Section 6. Any cattle, horse, ass, goat, mule, sheep, swine, dog, fowl,
or any other domestic animal shall be deemed running at large if found within
the corporate boundaries of the city, unless said animal or animals are being
driven or led along the public streets in the act of transit o~ under the
immediate control of the person owning or charged with the care thereof, and
any person owning or permitting such running at large shall be guilty of a
misdemeanor, provided, however, that dogs in such places shall be kept upon
a leash of not more than ten feet in length held by some person, but if any
such animal, other than a dog, is found to be safely and properly tied or
tethered, or is properly fenced, so as to prevent them f~om going upon or
reaching any pubiic place, they shaIi not be deemed running at iarge. In
addition to the ~emedy for commission of a misdemeanor, as hereinabove provided,
any animai found running at large may be impounded."
Section 2. This ordinance shaIi take effect upon its passage, approvai
and pubIication as provided by iaw.
