HomeMy WebLinkAbout1812 Amending Ordinance 1108, 1281, 1300 & 1509 - Parking LimitsORDINANCE NO. 1812 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 1 OF ORDINANCE 1108, SECTION 1 OF ORDINANCE 1509, AND SECTION 17 OF ORDINANCE 1281, AS AMENDED. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, IN REGULAR SESSION ASSEMBLED, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 1 of Ordinance 1108 is here and hereby amended to read as follows: "Section 1. It shall be unlawful f~F any person to stand or park any motor vehicle continuously at the same place for more than two hours between the hours of 9:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. on any day EXCEPT Sundays and holi~ays,~on the following described streets of the city: (1) On Water Street from Harrison Streeet to Monroe Street; (2) (3) On Taylor Street from Front Street to Washington Street; On Adams Street from Front Street to Washington Street; {4) On Washington Street from Taylor Street to Adams Street; and the North side from Taylor Street to Tyler Street. (5) On Lawrence Street from Polk Street to Taylor Street; (6) On Tyler Street from Washington Street to Front Street and from Lincoln Street to Clay Street. (7) On Quincy Street from Washington Street to Water Street." Section 2. Section 1 of Ordinance 1509 is here and hereby amended to read as follows: "Section 1. In the absence of other time limitation, it is unlawful for the owner, or other person in possession of any vehicle, to park or stand, or cause or permit to be parked or stood, such vehicle on any street or public right-of-way in the city for a period of more tham twenty-four consecutive hours, and provided that th~m sect£on shall &ppl¥ to city-owned off street parking areas es~&blishe4 &s s~h, a~ f~rther provided that nothing herein shall prevent ~he A~mitl~ of parking to a lesser period of time, either by ordinance ~ ~y ~de~ ~£ the Chief of Police... Secti~m..~}, ~io~ 17 of Ordinance 1281, as amended by Section 2 of Ordinaa~e 1~, is he~e~y amended ~o read as follows: "Section 17~'~ In addition to any other penalties provided for wrongful parking of any vehicle in the City of Port Townsend, or for any vehicle not properly ~£~~ or in any other regard in vi~lation of a traffic law, said vehicle may be removed under the direction of the chief of police and held for the payment of the costs of moving the same and of any fine impose4 for any violation which caused said removal. Nothing herein shall be deemed to limit the power of the chief of police or his agents to impoum4~.~abandoned automobiles or other vehicles, or in any other way to limit the impoundement authority of said chief of police." Section 4. This Ordinance shall take effect upon its passage, approval and publication in the form and manner provided by law.
