HomeMy WebLinkAbout17-049 Authorizing the City Manager to Execute a Law Enforcement Participation Agreement with the Washington Department of Enterprise Services for the Transfer of Surplus Federal PropertyResolution 17-049 RESOLUTION NO. 17-049 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A LAW ENFORCEMENT PARTICIPATION AGREEMENT WITH THE WASHINGTON DEPARTMENT OF ENTERPRISE SERVICES FOR THE TRANSFER OF SURPLUS FEDERAL PROPERTY WHEREAS, the Department of Defense is authorized under 10 U.S.C. §2576a to transfer surplus equipment to state law enforcement agencies; and, WHEREAS, this equipment is available to local law enforcement agencies at no cost; and, WHEREAS, the Police Department has participated in this program in the past, and wishes to obtain Council approval to continue to do so; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend to authorize the City Manager or designee to execute an agreement with the State Department of Enterprise Services to participate in the State's program to acquire surplus federal property for law enforcement purposes. ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting thereof, held this 16th day of October 2017.
