RESOLUTION NO. 17-043
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN
AGREEMENT WITH JEFFERSON COUNTY ON BEHALF OF THE JEFFERSON
COUNTY COOPERATIVE EXTENSION TO DESIGN AND CONSTRUCT A RAIN
GARDEN IN CHETZEMOKA PARK
WHEREAS, Washington State University, through the Jefferson County Cooperative
Extension's Water and Natural Resource program (JCCE), works to provide education in water
quality; and,
WHEREAS, as part of the program, JCCE works with property owners to design and
install rain gardens to help treat storm water before it enters Puget Sound; and,
WHEREAS, JCCE has offered to design and construct a rain garden in Chetzemoka
Park; and,
WHEREAS, to meet JCCE's grant deadline, the actual contract had to be signed by the
18th. The City Manager made the decision to sign the contract, subject to further Council
ratification;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend as follows:
1. The City Manager is authorized to negotiate and execute a contract with Jefferson
County on behalf of the Jefferson County Cooperative Extension for the design, construction,
and monitoring of a rain garden in Chetzemoka Park.
2. All prior administrative actions consistent with this Resolution are ratified and
confirmed.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting
thereof, held this 18th day of September, 2017.
