AN ORDINANCE AURHORIZING THE EXCHANGE
OF CITY PROPERTY FOR PROPERTY NEAR CITY LAKE
WHEREAS, THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND owns a certian property in
the vicinity of City Lake in Jefferson County, Washington which does
not abut upon said lake, and
WHEREAS, the City has the opportunity to exchange the property
owned by it for other property of equal size and equal or greater
value which is close to City Lake and
WHEREAS, for some years last past the City and State Health
Department have followed a policy of attempting to protect and
conserve the watershed area of said City Lake; and
WHEREAS, the acquisition by exchange of existing City-owned
real property for prpoperty nearer said City Lake wil~ protect and
enhance the health, safety and weIfare of the people of the City of
Port Townsend,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
REGULAR SESSION ASSEMBLED, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The Mayor and City Clerk are here and hereby
authorized and directed to exchange land owned by the City of
Port Townsend, described as:
THAT,:PORTION of the Southwest ¼ of the Northwest
¼ of the Southeast ¼ of Section 19, Township 29
N~th,_Ra~e"-l'West, W.M. lying Westerly and Northerly
of the Olympic Gravity Water System - City Lake Caretaker's
Road as said road is described in instrument dated
February 18, 1966 recorded February 24, 1966 under Auditor's
File #187052, records of Jefferson County, Washington.
EXCEPT roads and easements of record.
for land located in Jefferson County, Washington described as:

That portion of the South 20 acres of Gevernment Lot 2
lying in Section 19, Township 29 North, Range 1 West,
W.M., lying Southerly and Easterly of the Olympic Gravity
Water System - City Lake Caretaker's Road as said road is
described in instrument dated February 18, 1966 recorded
February 24, 1966 under Auditor's File No. 187052,
Records of Jefferson County, Washington. EXCEPT roads
and easement of record.-

The East 191~18 feet~of the South 20 acres of Government
Lot 2, 6f Section 19, Township 29 North, Range 1 West,
W.M. lying Northerly of the Olympic Gravity Water System-
City Lake Caretaker's Road as said road is described in
instrument dated February 18, 1966 recorded February 24,
1966 under Augitor's File No. 187052, Records of Jefferson
County, Washington.
said exchange to be equal, with no additional payment made to or
by either party.
Section 2. Ittis hereby found that, based upon appraised values,
the exchange of real property herein provided is fair and that the
value of the land received by the City is equal to or greater than
the value of the land delivered by the City.
Section 3. It is further found that this exchange of land is
made for purposes of conservation and watershed protection, in ac~6rd
with RCW 36.34.340, and pursuant to RCW 35.24.300, and that said
excahnge is for the protection of the public safety, health and welfare.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect upon its passage,
approval and publication in the form and manner provided by law.
Read for the first, second and third times, passed by the
Council and approved by the Mayor on ~¥ ~ , 19803
