RESOLUTION NO. 17-015
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON, ACCEPTING A DONATION FROM THE PORT TOWNSEND
PUBLIC LIBRARY FOUNDATION FOR LIBRARY CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT
PROJECTS
WHEREAS, The Port Townsend Public Library Foundation ("Foundation") has
continuously fulfilled its mission of soliciting donations for the benefit of the Library; and
WHEREAS, Section 3.42.050 of the Port Townsend Municipal Code requires donations in
excess of $5,000 to be accepted by the City Council; and
WHEREAS, the Foundation has offered to contribute up to $75,000 to Library improvement
projects; and
WHEREAS, in anticipation of this generous donation, Council approved Resolution 17-006,
authorizing the City Manager to enter into contracts for these improvements provided those contracts
are consistent with the approved budget;
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it is in the best interests of the City to
accept the donation;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend as follows:
Section 1. The City accepts the generous donations from the Foundation as set forth in the
Recitals.
Section 2. The City Manager is authorized to take all administrative actions consistent with
this Resolution.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting
thereof, held this 3rd day of April, 2017.
