A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF PORT TOWNSEND FIXING THE TIME FOR HEARING
ON A PETITION FOR A STREET VACATION
BE IT RESOLVED, THAT:
The Port Townsend City Council determines to initiate a street vacation and set a
public hearing date. The street vacation, if approved, would vacate the following rights of
way that lie between Sims Way and Discovery Road:
• 3`d Street
2`a Street
• Spring Street
The rights of way, which are not improved with any road improvements, are located in the
Evergreen Addition, and are generally located in the area near the entrance to the City and
adjacent to Sims Way and Discovery Road.
This vacation process is being initiated by the Council at the request of the American Legion
and the Fred Lewis Scout Cabin Association (owners of property adjacent to the rights of way.
The rights of way maybe vacated on certain conditions, including: City obtains a right of way
or easements along Discovery, and a conservation easement along Sims Way.
The hearing will be conducted at or about 6:30 PM on Tuesday January 20, 2009, in the
Council Chambers of City Hall, 540 Water Street, Port Townsend, Washington, or such other
date as the Mayor determines if necessary to accommodate other Council business or requests by
staff or applicant. so long as the hearing is not more than 60 days from adoption of the
Resolution.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular business
meeting thereof, held this 1st day of December, 2008.
