HomeMy WebLinkAbout3167 Related to Emergency Management; Revising the City Continuity of Government Provisions, and Amending Port Townsend Municipal Code Section 9.40.100 (Succession – Continuity of Government) Ordinance 3167 Ordinance 3167 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, WASHINGTON, RELATED TO EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT; REVISING THE CITY CONTINUITY OF GOVERNMENT PROVISIONS,AND AMENDING PORT TOWNSEND MUNICIPAL CODE SECTION 9.40.100 (SUCCESSION—CONTINUITY OF GOVERNMENT) WHEREAS, as provided for in Section 38.52.070 of the Revised Code of Washington, the City of Port Townsend has established an emergency management program which is codified in Chapter 9.40 of the Port Townsend Municipal Code; and WHEREAS, as part of a periodic review during the Cascadia Rising exercise, staff noticed that the continuity of operations provisions in City Code did not reflect the current City organization; and, WHEREAS, the City Council concurs with staff's recommendation for updating this provision; NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Port Townsend ordains as follows: Section 1. Amendments,. Section 9.40.100 of the Port Townsend Municipal Code is amended as shown in Exhibit A. Section 2. Severability. If any provision of this ordinance or its application to any person or circumstance is held invalid, the remainder of the ordinance, or the application of the provision to other persons or circumstances, is not affected. Section 3. Publication. This Ordinance shall be published by an approved summary consisting of the title. Section 4. Effective Date. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force five days after the date of its publication in the manner provided by law.
