RESOLUTION NO. 17-005
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SIGN A
TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENT BOARD GRANT AGREEMENT FOR
SIDEWALK CONSTRUCTION ON JEFFERSON STREET (TAYLOR TO
WASHINGTON STREET) AND AMENDING THE 2017-2022 TRANSPORTATION
IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the City has been awarded a Transportation Improvement Board (TIB)
grant in the amount of $395,000.00 with a match of $253,000.00 for sidewalk construction on
Jefferson Street (Taylor to Washington); and
WHEREAS, this project would enhance pedestrian safety in a school zone, and provide
stormwater improvements; and
WHEREAS, the City Council must authorize the City Manager to sign the TIB grant
agreement; and
WHEREAS, this project was not listed on the 2017-2022 Transportation Improvement
Program (TIP); and
WHEREAS, the City must include this project on the 2017-2022 TIP to be eligible to
receive these funds; and
WHEREAS, the City may amend the TIP to include this project;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend as follows: to authorize the City Manager to sign a project funding agreement with the
Washington State Transportation Improvement Board to fund, in part, the Jefferson Street
Sidewalk project. In addition, the City Council hereby amends the 2017-2022 TIP to include the
addition of the Jefferson Street Taylor to Washington Street project.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting
thereof, held this 17th day of January, 2017.
