AN ORDINANCE DEFINING LOW INCOME SENIOR
CITIZEN, AND PROVIDING FOR REDUCED WATER
RATES THEREFORE.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, IN REGULAR SESSION
ASSEMBLED, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. For the purposes of this ordinance, "low income
senior citizen" is defined as a person 62 years and over of age,
whose total income, including that of his or her spouse or cotenant,
does not exceed the sum of $10,000 per annum.
Section 2. For the purposes of this ordinance a "cotenant" is
defined as any person living in or upon the same premises as those
occupied by the low income senior citizen.
Section 3. For the purposes of this ordinance the term "total
income" includes but is not limited to all pensions, whether from
private or government sources, any disability payments, interest,
dividends, annuity proceeds, and all and every other amount
which may be available to the low income senior citizen for purposes
of spending the same.
Section 4. Low income senior citizens, as herein defined
upon application and proof of their status to the City Clerk, shall
be eligible for a one dollar discount in the monthly water bill. pur-
suant to Section 21 and 22 of Ordinance No. 1110, as amended.
Section 5. This ordinance shall effect on January 1, 1983.
Read for the first, second and third times, passed by the Council
and approved by the Mayor on December 21, 1982.
