Topic Motions/Recommendation/Action
Approval of Minutes: July 6, 2016 The minutes were approved with typographical revisions by a vote of 5-0, Dan Groussman
abstained.
David Timmons updated the Commission on the installation process for the “For Willene” sculpture at the Visitor Information Center, noting that
the Fort Worden Makers’ Square has also emerged as a possible
location for the piece. He asked the Commission to consider requesting
additional funding for public art to supplement the sculpture in their annual budget request which is due in September.
Stan Rubin will prepare a draft budget request to bring to the September 7 meeting which will include
a request for additional funding for public art and
additional funding for local events with reference to
past events that have appealed to tourists.
Joanna Sanders presented a draft version of the new Arts Commission
web page. Commissioners expressed interest in featuring funding applications, public announcements, events calendars, public art
information and Commissioner recognition on the page.
Joanna Sanders will make revisions based on
suggestions and make the new page public available.
The Commission reviewed an application from Northwind Arts Center for the Art Port Townsend Studio Tour The Commission approved funding of $1000 by a vote of 5-0 with Dominica Lord-Wood recused.
The Commission reviewed an application from Rain Shadow Chorale for two chorale programs in November 2016 The Commission unanimously approved funding of $300.
