RESOLUTION NO. 16-043
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON,AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A
CONTRACT WITH SCJ ALLIANCE FOR THE CONCEPTUAL DESIGN OF 7TH
STREET
WHEREAS, the Howard Street project is now under construction; and
WHEREAS, it is anticipated that 7th Street will be opened from the new Howard Street
west to Discovery Road; and
WHEREAS,this additional improvement will serve the adjacent commercial properties;
and
WHEREAS,the street would be constructed by adjacent developers and/or potentially
with grant funding or loans; and
WHEREAS, the City is proposing to prepare a conceptual design in order to have a
consistent design as developers make their improvements; and
WHEREAS,the City does not have sufficient staff to perform this work; and
WHEREAS, Shea, Carr, Jewell (SCJ) is the firm that is providing construction services
for the Howard Street project and is familiar with the project area;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend to authorize the City Manager to execute a professional services agreement with SCJ
Alliance, Inc., not to exceed $20,000.00 to provide a conceptual design for 7th Street.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting
thereof, held this 19th day of September, 2016.
