HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-031 Amending resolution 04-008 regarding the design review advisory committeeRESOLUTION N0.08-031 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, WASHINGTON AMENDING RESOLUTION 04-008 REGARDING THE DESIGN REVIEW ADVISORY COMMITTEE WHEREAS, by Resolution 04-008 (2004), the City Council established provisions retaining to composition, terms, and rules for the Design Review Advisory Committee; and WHEREAS, the City Council determines it appropriate to amend Resolution 04-008 as set forth below to provide for greater consistency between this Board and other advisory boards, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend as follows: Resolution 04-008 is amended as follows (strike is deleted and underline is added): SECTION 1. ESTABLISHMENT, AUTHORITY AND SCOPE OF WORK The Design Review Advisory Committee was established by Ordinance 2840, codified in PTMC 2.73, with authority and function as provided in PTMC 2.73.060, as amended. The Committee shall be subject to the general provisions in Article 4 of City Council Rules of Procedure pertaining to General Rules Applicable to Citizen Advisory Boards, and this Resolution, including any amendments thereto. SECTION 2. TERM OF COMMITTEE -SUNSET PROVISION. This committee shall constitute a standing advisory boazd, subject to further city council ordinance or resolution. No sunset provision is established. SECTION 3. The committee shall consist of five members, with the following provisions: A. The Port Townsend Design Review Advisory Committee shall consist of a standing pool of five individuals with architectural design expertise. An exception to the residency requirements for a maximum of one of the five committee members may be granted by the Mayor and City Council in order to obtain representatives from these disciplines. Resolution 08-031 B. All members of the committee must have demonstrated interest in and knowledge of the architectural development of the city. In making an appointment, the Mayor may consider names submitted from any source, but the Mayor shall notify City development-related organizations of vacancies so that names of interested and qualified individuals may be submitted by such organizations for consideration along with names from any other source. C. Only three members are required to review development proposals. The committee shall include in its rules of procedure the method by which the three members are scheduled. SECTION 4. TERMS OF OFFICE. The term of office shall be three years, except that the initial appointments shall be staggered from one to three years so that no more than three members shall have their terms expire in any one year.
