AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND AMENDING
PORT TOWNSEND MUNICIPAL CODE Chapter 2.32, and Section 2.32.020
RELATING TO PLANNING COMMISSION TERMS OF OFFICE
WHEREAS, the City Council determines it appropriate to amend Chapter 2.32 and
Section 2.32.020 of the PTMC as set forth below to provide for greater consistency between
this Board and other advisory boards,-
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Port Townsend ordains as
follows:
SECTION 1. Chapter 2.32, and Section 2.32.020, of the Port Townsend
Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows (text in strikeout is deleted, text in
underline is added):

PLANNING COMMISSION
Sections:
2.32.010 Created.
2.32.020 Membership.
2.32.010 Created.
There is created and authorized to act a planning commission, which shall be an
instrumentality of the city and shall have such powers and duties as shall be
provided by Title 20 of the Port Townsend Municipal Code -Administration of Land
Use Development Regulations erdiaaaee and such other matters as the City
Council refers to the planning commission. The planning commission is subject to
the general provisions of Article 4 of City Council Rules of Procedure pertaining to
General Rules Applicable to Citizen Advisory Boards, and this ordinance, and any
amendments thereto. (Ord. 2795 § 1, 2002; Ord. 1431 § 1, 1962).
2.32.020 Membership.
The committee shall consist of not less than seven members and not more than
11 members. Members shall be appointed for tenure as follows:

*Position may sunset if council determines seven-member commission is adequate
following completion of five-year comprehensive plan amendment in 2002.
Persons appointed to the existing planning commission shall continue to serve for
the fulfillment of their term.
Except as provided herein, the term of office shall be three feE+~years.
SECTION 2. Severability. If any provision of this ordinance or its application to
any person or circumstance is held invalid, the remainder of the ordinance, or the
application of the provision to other persons or circumstances, is not affected.
This ordinance shall take effect and be in force five days after the date of its
publication in the maturer provided by law.
Adopted by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, at a
regular meeting thereof, held this eighteenth day of August, 2008.
