RESOLUTION NO. 16-013
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON,AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN
AGREEMENT WITH JEFFERSON COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FOR
VISITOR INFORMATION CENTER SERVICES
WHEREAS, the City Council adopted the recommendations of the Lodging Tax
Advisory Commission to allocate funds for the continued operation of a visitor's information
center; and,
WHEREAS, the Administration and the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce have
negotiated a scope of work for operation of the Visitor's Center. However, during that
negotiation, Administration asked, and the Chamber agreed (subject to Council approval)to
increase that scope of work beyond what is currently budgeted from Lodging Tax funds; and,
WHEREAS,the Administration recommends Council approve the scope of work, and
direct staff to seek the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee's (LTAC) recommendation for
approval for the budget and, if so recommended, to bring a budget amendment to Council when
practicable;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend as follows:
Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to execute an agreement with the
Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce for operation of the Visitor Information Center
for 2016 in an amount not to exceed$103,000.00.
Section 2. The City Manager is directed to seek LTAC's recommendation for
an increased appropriation of lodging tax funds to cover the additional scope of work; if
such recommendation is received, staff will present a budget amendment when
practicable.
Section 3. The City Manager is authorized to take all administrative actions
consistent with the intent of this Resolution.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting
