A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SIGN A PUBLIC
INFRASTRUCTURE FUNDING GRANT AGREEMENT WITH JEFFERSON COUNTY
FOR'I'HE UPPER SIMS WAY (SR 20) AND HOWARD STREET IMPROVEMENTS
PROJECT
WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend has received a Public Infrastructure Funding
(PIF) grant from Jefferson County in the amount of $500,000 for the Upper Sims Way and
Howard Street Improvements project; and
WHEREAS, the PIF grant will help offset city and LID expenditures fox improvements
to Upper Sims Way and Howard Street; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager must sign the grant agreement with Jefferson County in
order to obligate these funds for the design work which is currently underway for the Upper Sims
Way (SR20) and Howard Street Project; and
WHEREAS, the Upper Sims Way and Howard Street project has been identified on the
recently adopted 6 year Transportation Improvement Plan, 2009-2014 and on the City's 2008
CIP; and
WHEREAS, the project has been designated by Council as a high priority project for
transportation improvements; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has a public process underway to define the nature and
extent of the improvements,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend that the City Manger is hereby authorized to sign a grant agreement with Jefferson
County for the design and construction of improvements to Sims Way (SR20) and Howard Street
Howard Street.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting
thereof, held this 2nd day of September 2008.
