HomeMy WebLinkAbout102715 FINAL MinutesParks, Recreation & Tree Advisory Board Minutes of the Regular Meeting of October 27, 2015 City Hall 1st Floor Conference Room Call to Order - The meeting was called to order at 4:35 p.m. Board members present were Debbie Jahnke, Ed Robeau, Jim Todd, Jason Cecil and Rosemary Sikes with Brenda McMillan excused. Deputy City Clerk Joshua Stecker was present from City staff. Approval of Agenda and Minutes - The present agenda and minutes of the September 22, 2015, Regular Meeting were approved unanimously with a revision to the minutes to reflect that Ed Robeau felt Advisory Boards should be given a non-voting seat at the table at Council Committee meetings when those meetings directly address topics related to Advisory Board work efforts. Jefferson County Noxious Weed Presentation – Joost Besijn presented upcoming changes to the county’s noxious weed program. Tree City Renewal Application – Debbie Jahnke presented a list of items needed for renewal of the Tree City designation. Jason Cecil will work on collecting information needed. Citizen Dog Park Group – Debbie Jahnke updated the Board on the citizen group Dog Recreation on the Peninsula (DROP). DROP is applying as a non-profit with the State. 2015-16 Work Plan – Debbie Jahnke suggested that the Board ask Council to task them with the following work plan items: • Evaluation of park names for consistency of naming process • Seeking grant options for Kah Tai wetland restoration/expansion • Developing rules for dog parks • Inventory of local recreation programs • Updating the street tree list • Completing the first “Trees of Port Townsend” brochure(s) • Maintaining a running list of issues for the next Parks Plan update Debbie Jahnke provided a draft of a possible first in a series of “Trees of Port Townsend” brochures. Jason Cecil will provide revisions to the information. Next Meeting - The next regularly scheduled meeting will be on November 24, 2015. Adjourn - The meeting adjourned at 5:45 p.m.
