Minutes of the July 23, 2015, Special

City Hall 1st Floor Conference Room
Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 4:30 p.m. Board members present were Jolly Wahlstrom,
Scott Walker, Lys Burden, Pat Teal, Richard Dandridge, Hendrik Taatgen, Mike Kaill and Sally
Chapin with Mark Henthorn absent. Deputy City Clerk Joshua Stecker and City Engineer David
Peterson were present from City Staff.
Staff Report
City Engineer David Peterson updated the Board on the construction of the Landes Street and
Sheridan Street sidewalk projects. He also confirmed that the trail along the Choate's property
was in the City right of way.
Complete Streets Policy
The Board discussed the need for the City to adopt a complete streets policy in order to qualify
for potential state grants in the future. Dan Burden commented on the potential of implementing
a complete streets policy in Port Townsend. The Board drafted a letter to send to Council and
City staff recommending the adoption of a complete streets policy and implementation plan,
inclusion of complete streets in the 2016 Comprehensive Plan and acceleration of the Non-
Motorized Transportation Plan. The Board unanimously moved to have Scott Walker send the
letter to Council by email.
Next Meeting
The next regularly scheduled meeting will be on August 6, 2015.
