Minutes of the Regular Meeting of March
24, 2015
City Hall 1st Floor Conference Room
Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 4:30 p.m. Board members present were Debbie Jahnke,
Ron Sikes, Jim Todd, Jason Cecil and Ed Robeau, with Rosemary Sikes excused. Staff present were Parks and Facilities Manager Alex Wisniewski, Senior Planner Judy Surber and Deputy
City Clerk Joshua Stecker.
Approval of Minutes
The minutes of the February 24, 2015, Regular Meeting were approved unanimously.
2016 Comprehensive Plan Overview
Judy Surber updated the board on the progress of the 2016 Comprehensive Plan update and noted that the Parks Functional Plan would not likely be affected by the update.
Bicycle Park Presentation Kees Kolff and Chauncey Tudhope-Locklear of the ReCyclery gave a presentation on a proposed bicycle park.
Staff Report
Alex Wisniewski gave the board an updated parks budget including pool expenses. He also
noted that the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) requested a three year maintenance program for the cleanup work done by their crews in February.
Arbor Day Planning Alex Wisniewski will request a DNR representative to be present at the Arbor Day proclamation
reading at the April 20 City Council Meeting.
RCO Grants
Debbie Jahnke asked the board to think of potential areas of need for the March 2016 RCO grant application.
Memorial Bench Locations Ron Sikes identified the ends of Hudson, Van Ness and 49th Streets as well as Hill Place and Cappy’s Trails as potential locations for memorial benches.
Next Meeting
The next regularly scheduled meeting will be on April 28, 2015.
