HomeMy WebLinkAbout012715 FINAL MinutesParks, Recreation & Tree Advisory Board Minutes of the January 27, 2015, Meeting City Hall 1st Floor Conference Room Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 4:35 p.m. Board members present were Chair Rosemary Sikes, Debbie Jahnke, Ron Sikes, Jim Todd, Jason Cecil and Ed Robeau (via teleconference). Staff present were Parks and Facilities Manager Alex Wisniewski and Deputy City Clerk Joshua Stecker. Approval of Agenda The 2015 budget topic was postponed until the February 2015 meeting at the request of Parks and Facilities Manager Alex Wisniewski. Approval of Minutes The minutes of the December 16, 2014, Regular Meeting were approved with changes to reflect the references to specific parks. Staff Report Alex Wisniewski updated the board on the style and location of the upcoming Parkside Park playground installation. The RTP grant proposal has received a preliminary ranking of 37th out of 64 proposals. Precedent suggests the proposal may be approved. Mr. Wisniewski updated the board on the process for designating landmark trees. Work Groups The Department of Natural Resources Puget SoundCorps work crew will focus on Sather Park woods and Kah Tai Park in February under Mr. Wisniewski’s the supervision. Regularly scheduled Sather Park work party continue every Tuesday. A work party is scheduled for February 22 to pot up native plants. 2015 Work Plan Alex Wisniewski will discuss the board’s proposed 2015 work plan with City Manager David Timmons. Memorial Bench Locations Ron Sikes and Debbie Jahnke will look for parks that need memorial benches to promote as an alternative to Chetzemoka Park. Next Meeting The regularly scheduled meeting will be on February 24, 2015. Adjourn The meeting adjourned at 5:50 p.m.
