Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 4:30 p.m. Board members present were Debbie Jahnke,
Rosemary Sikes, Brenda McMillan and Ed Robeau, with Jim Todd and Jason Cecil excused.
Staff present were Parks & Facilities Manager Alex Wisniewski and Deputy City Clerk Joshua
Stecker.
Approval of Agenda and Minutes
The present agenda and minutes of the April 28, 2015, Regular Meeting were approved
unanimously.
Public Comment
Bob Gray commented on the invasive blackberry bushes adjacent to the small lagoon at Kah
Tai Lagoon Nature Park. Admiralty Audubon will clean up the area. Bob Gray also gave an
update on the changes to Parkside Park shelter.
Staff Report
Alex Wisniewski updated the Board on the promotion of Seth Leighton to Lead Pool Operator
and expanded pool hours for summer. He also updated the Board on upcoming tree planting
plans for the new sidewalk projects on Landes and Sheridan, and on possible changes to
volunteering procedures.
Significant Tree Brochure
Debbie Jahnke brought up the unfinished Significant Tree Brochure project. Alex Wisniewski will
seek approval for continuing the project.
Leash Law Update
The City Council General Services and Special Projects Committee is reviewing proposed leash
law amendments including designating several off-leash areas. Debbie Jahnke will give public
comment at a future Council meeting to express the Board's support of establishing a fenced
dog park, as it is a priority in the 2014 parks functional plan.
RTP Grant Proposal
Debbie Jahnke will tentatively travel to Olympia in support of the RTP grant proposal on June
24th although RCO staff guidance indicated that funding decisions are based primarily on the
results of the reviews and ranking evaluations already undertaken
Next Meeting
The next regularly scheduled meeting will be on June 23, 2015.
