Minutes of the October 2, 2014, Regular
lownsen Meeting
City Hall 1St Floor Conference Room
Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 4:30 p.m. Board members present were Jolly Wahlstrom,
Lys Burden, Richard Dandridge and Pat Teal with Scott Walker excused and Tim Eaton absent.
Staff present were Project Manager Tyler Johnson and Deputy City Clerk Joshua Stecker.
Approval of Minutes
The minutes of the December 12, 2013 and September 4, 2014 Regular Meetings were
unanimously approved.
Staff Report
Tyler Johnson reported that sharrows are down on Hastings. The Sherman Street ditch culvert
has been placed on the crew's work list. Other areas of concern for staff to address included
Chestnut St. ROW acquisition, Spruce Street survey, ROW signage for El Choate's acquisition,
trail erosion on Jefferson Street near the Co-op, and bike racks at the Cotton Building. Judy
Surber will be asked to update the board on the Comp Plan process.
Rosewind Neighborhood
Richard Dandridge will talk to the Broken Spoke bicycle group about using the trail through the
Rosewind neighborhood. Tyler will order Yield to Pedestrian signage.
Grants Status
Debbie Jahnke reported that the People for Bikes grant was declined and that the trails grant for
the electric wheelbarrow and gravel funding was in review.
Lys Burden will look into the process for Bike Friendly City designation in 2016.
The Spruce Street fence was mentioned as a possible work project for October.
Public Comment
Debbie Janhke commented on the Jefferson Transit Board.
Next Meeting
The next regularly scheduled meeting will be on November 6, 2014.
